Prom ReRun is an event program offering donation and free pickup opportunities for gently used formal apparel, such as dresses, suits, and shoes.

Johnson County high school students and community members can donate quality gently used items or pick up items at no cost.

As part of Prom ReRun, there will be six separate locations where residents can drop off items during the first two weeks of March. A pickup event where the collected items are available for free will be held on March 14, 2026.

What to Donate

Community members are invited to donate gently used:

• Dresses
• Dress pants, suits, vests
• Shoes
• Head wraps, scarves, ties
• Clothes hangers and garment bags

Not accepted:

• Jewelry
• Accessories
• Purses or bags
• Cosmetics or make-up
• Other items not listed on the accepted items list

Donation items must be clean and in good condition (meaning no rips, tears, stains, pet hair, food residue, damage, etc.). If donors have items that are damaged or not in good condition for donation, event staff and volunteers reserve the right to refuse items. For usable items not accepted at this event, please consider donation and consignment options listed in the Iowa City Area Resale & Consignment Directory.
