ArtiFactory Gallery ft paintings by Jamie Elizabeth Hudrlik

In March the ArtiFactory Gallery features paintings by Jamie Elizabeth Hudrlik. Unfolding across large-scale, unstretched canvases, Hudrlik’s work transforms the visual language of children’s book illustrations into poetic, emotionally resonant compositions. Mixing acrylic, graphite, oil crayon, stamps, and stencils, she explores the emotional connections between female figures and their environments. Her paintings draw from memory, imagination, and the natural world to reflect on identity and growth, blurring the lines between childhood and the adult world.
The show runs through March. Gallery hours are Wednesday and Friday 4-6 and Saturday 1-3 or by appointment on the website (artifactory.artsiowacity.org). Admission is free. There will be an opening reception on Friday March 6 during Gallery Walk, 5-8 p.m.
Raised in small-town Iowa, Hudrlik began her studies at the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2000, earning a BFA in Painting from Columbia College Chicago in 2004. While at Columbia, she was awarded a grant to create The Alphabet Series—a body of twenty-six large paintings that established her signature scale and style.
Her paintings are currently on view at Wonderland, a brand-new vintage and décor shop in Iowa City that she opened with her sister (Instagram@wonderlandiowacity). You can also find them at www.JamieElizabethHudrlik.com , Instagram@jamiehudrlikpainting, and
