Join us for Kirkwood Community College’s 4th Annual 24-Hour Play Festival – InstaPlay! Open to all Kirkwood students, faculty, and staff, and members of the community. Participants will team up to write, direct, and act in brand new 10-minute plays. Whether you’ve never performed or written before, or you’re a seasoned theatre person, this is the festival for you. Each playwright will be paired with a playwright mentor to guide you along the way in writing your play in under half a day. Try something new and plan to join us for InstaPlay 2026!

WHO: Open to all Kirkwood students, faculty, and staff; and members of the community

WHEN: Friday, February 6 – Saturday, February 7 (see below for schedule of events)

WHERE: Cedar Hall, Iowa Hall, and Ballantyne Auditorium on Kirkwood’s Main Campus

SCHEDULE: Friday, February 6 6:30 pm:

Arrive in Iowa Hall for InstaPLAY!

Registration 7:00 pm:

Team-Up Event 7:30 – 10:00 pm: Costume Draft, Team Brainstorming Sessions, and MORE!

Saturday, February 7 8:00 am:

Teams meet back on campus to put together and rehearse their plays!

1:30 pm: Tech Rehearsals in Ballantyne Auditorium

7:30 pm: InstaPLAY! Festival performance in Ballantyne Auditorium
