The Iowa Music Project — a James Gang endeavor dedicated to promoting and supporting live music throughout the state of Iowa — is now accepting submissions for its IMP Songwriting Showcase.
Open to artists of all genres, musicians who submit one original song to the IMP Songwriting Showcase by March 15 will have the chance to be included in a 15-track vinyl compilation produced by Maximum Ames. In addition, 25 finalists will be awarded one free half-day recording session at Flat Black Studios throughout the months of April and May. Honorees will be announced by April 1.
Your vote matters!
Here’s the rub: Two of the album’s 15 finalists will be selected right here on littlevillagemag.com by you, our readers, through a community-wide vote. As submissions roll in, we’ll publish the songs below and ask you to vote on your favorites.
Not a musician? Fear not! The IMP is capping off the project with a live concert at the Des Moines Social Club on June 2 featuring The Middle Western, a new group comprised of Iowa heavyweights William Elliot Whitmore and Dave Zollo. Iowa Public Radio will broadcast and emcee the event.
The IMP Songwriting Showcase is made possible through the support of the Iowa Arts Council, as well as partnerships with arts organizations across the state of Iowa. For more information, check out iowamusicproject.com.
Artist submissions coming soon: Stay tuned!
