Iowa has stood up in the face of this devastating natural disaster—now it’s time for us to stand up for each other and the Iowa City and Coralville communities, and help give Johnson County a much needed break.

The Mill Restaurant has a reputation of hosting the best of the best Americana music from our talented community—not to mention they are home to some of the best food in town. The Mill will open their stage to many musicians from this beloved music community for United Way of Johnson County and their flood relief fund. ALL for you IOWA!

Thank you to the entire community for literally bending over backwards to help out your friends and neighbors, even though many of you yourselves, were affected. You all rock the Little Village world!

You worked so hard Iowa; let The Mill and the Iowa music community put a smile on your face.

Due to flooding in City Park, much of this year’s Iowa City Pride Festival has been canceled. But the organizing committee does offer this invite for Friday night:

“Between the sandbagging and the clean up, The Iowa City Pride Committee would like to invite everyone to a fundraiser to assist local flood recovery efforts this Friday evening from 6 – 9 p.m. on the second floor patio of the Iowa City Sheraton Inn. Come out and show your pride in our community by pledging to volunteer your time and/or money. We will be listening to The Recliners on the Ped Mall. Free appetizers and a cash bar will be provided.”

Apron Sewing Circle | Home Ec Workshop | 1-3pm

Crafty types have quickly come to love Iowa City’s Home Ec Workshop, and for good reason. Check out the shop this weekend with Sunday’s Apron Sewing Circle.

Home Ec is hosting an Apron design contest this month to help raise money for breast cancer research. Aprons entered in the contest will be sold with 100% of the profits going to the cause. Make an apron by June 30 and get 10% off apron-making supplies purchased at Home Ec.

All donated aprons will be on display at Home Ec, where you can vote on your favorite from July 1-8. First place wins a $50 gift certificate to Home Ec, and all entrants are eligible for other prizes.
